An event that left its mark on us: it was the last “decade” celebration to which veterans could still participate. UNIVEM had invited two D-Day veterans with their family : Bill Elwood and John Trippon, and a third one, Dough Cahow, Korean veteran but whose brother fell during the Battle of the Bulge in Ardennes, 1944.
It was utmost important to enjoy this intense time together: very sadly Bill and John died short time after they returned home in the U.S..
